Genus: Scirpus

bulrush

Do not confuse the anther filaments with the perianth bristles. The perianth bristles usually have downward-pointing teeth, are twisted and tangled, or both. These features help to separate the bristles from the filaments, which may stay on the fruits for a long time. Plants with unusually long spikelets may be hybrids.
